When diving into FromSoftware's iconic action RPG franchise, players often wonder whether modern re-releases include extra content. For newcomers and returning fans preparing to explore Lordran, knowing if additional expansions are bundled with the base game is essential. Fortunately, Dark Souls Remastered comes fully packaged with the critically acclaimed Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content included right on the disc or digital download.

Included Downloadable Content in Dark Souls Remastered

Unlike the original 2011 release on older consoles, Dark Souls Remastered provides the complete game experience in a single package. Bandai Namco included the Artorias of the Abyss expansion as a standard feature across all platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC. This ensures that players do not need to purchase any secondary add-ons to access the full narrative and all extra bosses.

What Content Is Inside Artorias of the Abyss

The included DLC expansion introduces players to the ancient land of Oolacile, expanding heavily on the game's rich lore. Adventurers face off against formidable bosses such as Knight Artorias, Manus, Father of the Abyss, and Black Dragon Kalameet. Alongside these memorable boss encounters, the expansion grants access to unique weapons, spell sets, and distinct armor collections.

How to Access the DLC In-Game

Accessing the Artorias of the Abyss content requires completing a few specific gameplay steps within the main story. Players must rescue Dusk of Oolacile in Darkroot Basin and retrieve the Broken Pendant item from The Duke's Archives. Returning to the portal in Darkroot Basin allows players to transition directly into the expanded expansion zones.

Why the Remastered Version Offers the Best Value

By bundling the DLC together with enhanced framerates and visual fidelity, Dark Souls Remastered serves as the definitive way to play. Players gain access to vibrant multiplayer lobbies and refined quality-of-life options without spending extra money. Whether you are tackling the adventure solo or with friends, the complete content package offers tremendous value.
